The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee

The Platinum Jubilee will take place from the 2nd to 5th June 2022

Whilst Her Majesty actually acceded to the throne on 6th February 1952, she felt that it would be better to celebrate in warmer weather, so the celebration weekend is timed to coincide with the anniversary of The Queen’s coronation.

Thursday 2nd JunePlatinum Jubilee BeaconsBeacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories. For the first time, beacons will also be lit in each of the capital cities of the Commonwealth countries to celebrate the Jubilee.

The traditional beacons are braziers which will be lit in many counties, including the West Midlands. Buildings will also be lit up in our Cities to act as beacons.

Communities, groups and individuals can also take part – such as lighting up churches, mosques and temples, light art installations, or simply standing at the window with a torch / candle/ light, at a designated time on Thursday evening.
Friday 3rd JuneService of ThanksgivingThere will be a Service of Thanksgiving for The Queen’s reign held at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.
We encourage our Cathedrals, churches, Mosques, Temples and places of worship to hold their own service of thanksgiving.

This can be a special service, or incorporate Her Majesty into prayers that day
