Afzal Hussain is Chief Officer of Witton Lodge Community Association, a leading social enterprise, delivering impactful services to meet the needs of diverse communities across north Birmingham.
During the pandemic, he convened the Erdington (Covid 19) Taskforce, and the North Birmingham Economic Recovery Board, both of which have supported thousands of residents and vulnerable groups to access housing, health and wellbeing, employment, skills, and enterprise support services.
Afzal is also an active member of several Boards in Birmingham and West Midlands, providing insight and demonstrable expertise in community-led approaches to tackle deep-seated challenges, as well as capitalising on opportunities that unlock and nurture talent.
Previously, Afzal was Interim CEO and Company Secretary of Moat House Community Trust – the successor body to Coventry New Deal for Communities – operating as the regeneration vehicle for North-East Coventry. He was also Deputy Chief Executive of Aston Pride NDC where he worked with the board, local government, community leaders and senior officers to regenerate one of Birmingham’s most deprived wards.
