Dave, or Blind-Dave as he is affectionately known throughout the Black Country and West Midlands is a Motivational Speaker and Charity Fundraiser.

Beyond the public persona Dave had his dream of joining the Army quashed with the onset of blindness.  This led him to forge his own path in life, from a commercial trainee in his formative years to finally owning a distribution company.

Dave became the first blind person to complete 7 marathons in 7 days on 7 continents and this was the start of a comprehensive range of extreme events, including the Marathon De Sables, the toughest foot race in the world across the Sahara Desert.

It is running marathons and ultra marathons for which he is best known and admired. To date Dave has completed sixteen London Marathons, eighteen Great North Runs and cycled in both the London and Birmingham Prudential 100 mile bike rides, raising many thousands of pounds in the process.  His high-profile marathons not only raise awareness for charities but raise the profile of the region throughout the United Kingdom.

In 2008 Dave was named BBC West Midlands Sports personality of the year, in 2012 he was awarded the Freedom of the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell, in 2017 he was given the Pride of Birmingham Award for his fundraising and in 2020 Dave was awarded the OBE in The Queen’s Birthday Honours.
