Susan Allen has given one of the most deprived areas in Wolverhampton the highest commitment, leading a 40–strong volunteering group behind the Hope Community Project. The Hope project helps vulnerable people in a culturally diverse area, where drugs, crime, violence and unemployment are prevalent.
Although she has retired as the Project Manager for the charity, last year she raised £250k to help develop the services provided.
Susan understands how people get isolated and is known for personally knocking doors in the town to talk to residents.
She has actively engaged with the neighbourhood plans to contribute to a city-wide gang prevention strategy and worked tirelessly to secure a lease for a new centre that is a welcoming hub for the community.
If this isn’t enough, Susan established a football project for boys aged 10-16 years with lessons on safety.
